Neighborhood Cleanups

Interlachen Lakes Estates was the targeted area for cleaning in October 2005.  With the help of many volunteers and county officials 8,440 pounds of garbage was picked up.  In addition over 70 tires weighing > 3000 lbs were taken to the land fill.

    CLEAN UP NUMBER TWO

A large turnout from the Sheriffs Department "Shining Star", Keep Putnam Beautiful, WastePro, and the Interlachen Lakes Estate Homeowners Association met to continue the cleanup effort.

Large numbers of workers were needed.  There was lots of trash to go around.  Like many rural areas of  Putnam County, dumping on the right of way is a major problem.  One of the biggest problems we encountered were tires!  Apparently many people illegally dump tires to avoid the charge at the land fill.

Here Tim Brown and a worker from WastePro toss discarded tires in a garbage truck.  WastePro donated two twenty yard rolloffs and three garbage trucks to the cleanup effort.
